About Rosamond LloydRosamond has been a gifted artist from childhood, inspired by her surroundings, the natural world and by the example of her talented artist grandmother. She graduated with a London University degree in English and Drama before pursuing a career in radio, only later returning to her first love of art, combining the study of illustration at art school with motherhood. It was during this period that she began sculpting, initially as a hobby and then, further to an apprenticeship with a bronze sculptor, as a profession. Rosamond’s wonderfully detailed bronzes rapidly attracted the interest of both private collectors and galleries and in 2011 she was nominated for the David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of the Year.
Sculpting in clay or wax and casting predominantly in bronze, Rosamond draws her inspiration from the natural world and particularly the relationship between parent and offspring. A vivid sense of attention to detail defines her sculptures, helping to capture the spirit and sense of her subject matter with both accuracy and empathy.
In 2013 Rosamond visited Zambia on a research trip to collect material for a new body of sculpture, culminating in her highly acclaimed London show. A special sculpture by Rosamond, commissioned by the Cotswold Wildlife Park to commemorate the birth of the first white rhino calf in the Park’s 43 year history, also made its public début at the show.
Rosamond is proud to support Tusk Trust as its affiliated sculptor. She is passionate about conservation, raising significant funds for conservation projects through her sculpture work. She recently collaborated with Tusk by donating a generous percentage of the sale price of each bronze rhino edition to fund rhino conservation projects in Africa. By the end of 2014 sales of this sculpture alone will have raised enough to fund the salary and rations for ten scouts for one full year and equip twenty rangers on anti-poaching patrol with personal radios and portable solar panels. This sculpture has been extremely popular and sets a new record by selling out of edition in under a year.
Rosamond accepts private commissions, working with a wide range of subject matter, to any scale. Her work has been featured widely in local, national and international press and she is a regular guest sculptor at the UK’s largest festival of master craftsmanship, Art in Action. Her work has been displayed in a host of prestigious galleries and venues, including The Royal Geographical Society, The Mall Galleries and The Royal Opera Arcade Gallery, to name a few. Her sculptures are held in private collections in Britain, Europe, the USA and United Arab Emirates.
